EverLink is a client/server software product that provides secure and instant file transfer, email, instant messaging and secure web server access over the Internet, intranets and extranets. It gives users a method of exchanging information securely, privately and in real time.

Running at the application layer, EverLink uses an innovative end-to-end connection for its communication link. This feature offers multiple benefits. First, with a direct connection between two computers, information is not stored on a server during transmission; therefore, communication is instantaneous whether users are inside or outside the firewall. Second, security is enhanced significantly because there is no chance of data being intercepted off the server.

Centralized Control Policy

The EverLink Suite includes a Centralized Control Policy that you can customize to control and monitor your organization's information flow - very important for corporate security. The Centralized Control Policy allows the systems administrator to create separate control policies that can be applied to different groups of clients. It also determines what information an EverLink Client can send out to a destination. Through the Centralized Control Policy, the systems administrator can decide which administrator(s) will receive data transfer logs as well as email and instant messaging duplications. The systems administrator can also choose to block outgoing email and instant messaging if selected keywords are detected in the transfer.

EverLink enables systems administrators to authorize the access of individual outside users to designated computer(s) behind the corporate firewall, rather than granting all admitted outside users universal access to the entire network. This distinguishing feature provides superior control over network access from outside the firewall. And, because EverLink offers granular access control down to file level, only the files or folders which the user authorizes can be accessed by an admitted outside user. Other folders and network resources are hidden completely.

A secure web-hosting function is also available for those who wish to protect the information passing between a web-server and users on the Internet.

EverLink provides security by integrating advanced technologies such as double mapping, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), S/MIME, authentication using PKI, x.509 v. 3 digital certificates, CRL v.2, username/password, IP address-based intrusion locks and mandatory transaction logs. The data encryption technology is up to 168-bit using DES, Triple DES, RC2, RC4, with RSA Key Exchange.

In addition, EverLink offers a great add-on feature for corporate users. With its end-to-end connection and data encryption technology, EverLink provides unique intranet security which is not supported by VPN or other remote access and communication solutions.

The EverLink Suite consists of the following two fully integrated components:

EverLink Client – establishes a global URL for direct end-to-end connections between users. The Client software also enables secure and instant file transfer, email and instant messaging functionality, and it provides the encryption for transactions between EverLink users. The address book allows users to import contact information from the server. It also enables users to import from other email client address books, such as Netscape® Messenger and Microsoft® Outlook, enabling quicker and easier communication.
EntryGuard Server – protects the intranet from unauthorized access while allowing authorized outside users to communicate securely and privately with designated computer(s) behind the firewall. EntryGuard also logs all transactions across the firewall, adding an additional security and monitoring capability. EntryGuard contains an address book which holds the URL addresses of EverLink users and offers a powerful global search function.

EverLink is written using Java™ technology, making it a cross-platform solution. The EverLink Client runs on Windows NT, Windows 95/98, Solaris, Mac OS, IBM OS/2 and Linux. The EntryGuard Server runs on Windows NT, Solaris, Novell Netware 5.0 and Linux servers.

With its intuitive graphical user interface, EverLink is easy to use, requiring minimal training and administration. And, because it is entirely software-based, EverLink requires no investment in networking hardware. These characteristics give EverLink a much lower total cost of ownership (TCO) than other solutions.

Finally, because EverLink stores account information in the form of a URL address, it is uniquely capable of providing secure and instant communication using a standard web browser. This ground-breaking feature eliminates the need for client software on a remote user’s system and ensures EverLink’s convenience for remote employees, customers, suppliers and partners; that is, any authorized user without EverLink can still access an EverLink user’s computer through a standard web browser.
