RSA PROVIDES SECURITY FOR ANYWARE TECHNOLOGY'S JAVA-BASED
INTERNET COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCT
EverLink
Suite Incorporates RSA Technology to Provide Secure
Remote Network Access
SAN MATEO, California
-- August 11, 1998 -- RSA Data Security, Inc.
today announced that Anyware Technology, Inc., a provider
of integrated desktop and client/server software solutions
for business-critical applications, has incorporated
RSA security technology into its initial product offering,
EverLink Suite. Anyware Technology's EverLink
Suite is a Java-based, cross-platform solution that
provides organizations with private and secure electronic
mail, file transfers and instant messaging over wide-area
networks (WANs) or the Internet. The addition of RSA
technology to EverLink Suite provides users with a reliable,
private solution for Internet communications.
"EverLink provides
a cost-effective communications solution for users,
while addressing security issues of corporate IT and
finance departments," said Roy Han, president and
chief executive officer of Anyware Technology. "By
adopting RSA technology, we are offering secure and
private cross-platform communications a critical
requirement as corporations extend their networks across
the Internet."
The EverLink Suite, which
consists of three integrated components, is designed
to address the needs of organizations that incorporate
the use of the Internet, intranet and extranets into
their corporate strategies. Anyware Technology used
RSAs BSAFE and JSAFE security software
products to incorporate security into all three of its
EverLink suite components.
- The EverLink Client
establishes a virtual office home page for direct
computer-to-computer links between authorized users,
verifies passwords and authenticates an EverLink Owners
Certificate before it allows communications. Users
connect to EverLink virtual offices pages using Web
browsers or the systems interface. To eliminate
the danger of interception, all access is peer-to-peer
through RSAs implementation of Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL).
- The EverLink Suite
component, EverLink LocatorOne , lists Internet
Protocol (IP) addresses for EverLink users' virtual
office home pages. LocatorOne allows an address to
be listed after authenticating the clients EverLink
Owners Certificate and offers search functions.
- The last component,
EverLink EntryGuard , uses RSA security technology
to protect internal networks from unauthorized access,
while allowing authorized users to communicate securely
and privately with specific sites inside the firewall.
Unlike other communications products, EverLink EntryGuard
does not create an open pathway through an organizations
firewall, thus protecting corporate data from unauthorized
viewing or access.
"We are pleased that
Anyware Technology selected RSA to bring its new product
suite to market," said Al Sisto, chief operating
officer of RSA. "By incorporating RSA's encryption
technology, EverLink Suite enables an organization to
offer global access to its data without risking
a breach to corporate data."
BSAFE is one of the worlds
best-selling cryptography engine and provides software
developers with multiple algorithms and modules for
adding encryption and authentication features to applications.
BSAFE includes modules for popular security encryption
techniques, such as RSA, DES, RC2, RC4, and Elliptic
Curve Cryptography (ECC), and also supports digital
signatures and certificates.
RSA's JSAFE encryption
engine provides developers with a state-of-the-art implementation
of critical privacy, authentication, and data integrity
routines written entirely in the Java language. With
JSAFE, Java technology developers are able to build
secure applets that support public key cryptography,
enabling both privacy and authentication.
